On Sunday, July 23rd, Foundations Wellness Center hosted its first annual First Responders Appreciation day to honor the men and women who dedicate their lives to helping others. We were overwhelmed by the amount of support that was shown not only by those whose lives have been touched by addiction, but also by the local community as a whole!
Almost 200 community members made an appearance during the event to show their support for the work being done on a daily basis by our local firefighters, police officers, and paramedics. The gratitude that we collectively have for the countless lives you have saved can not be expressed in words.
Together, we will continue to persevere and create a force that will combat the south Florida heroin epidemic, raise overdose awareness on a local level, create programs to provide resources to the community, and ultimately crush the stigma that has long been associated with addiction.
First Responder Participation
In addition to the local community, we were fortunate enough to secure a few hours of time donated by the local police forces and fire departments to spend time with the crowd. The youngsters were even able to tour fire trucks and police cruisers.
One main topic of discussion during the day involved the collaboration of programs like Foundations Wellness Center and our various first response teams in an effort to battle the growing local opiate overdose problem. More will be revealed as we continue to work together to share valuable information and resources that will save many lives.
Special Thanks to Our Supporters
Foundations Wellness Center would like to extend an enormous thank you to the many selfless individuals who volunteered their time to make this event a possibility. We are looking forward to a bright future working together as a team, and ultimately making our community a safer and healthier place!
